CLP Meeting: Observers To Talk With MLAs, Party High Commands To Decide On New Karnataka CM Soon — Top Points
Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal said that the three observers will meet with the MLAs one-by-one to know their individual opinions which will be communicated to party high command.
Congress legislators in today's meeting in Bengaluru unanimously decided to authorise All India Congress Committee president Mallikarjun Kharge to decide on the name for next Karnataka chief minister. The resolution was moved by Siddaramaiah and was approved by 135 MLAs including DK Shivakumar. Speaking at a media briefing following the meeting, party spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala said,"Siddaramaiah moved a single line resolution authorising the AICC president to appoint a new leader of the Congress legislature party. 135 MLAs unanimously approved that resolution."
The meeting started at around 8 pm today at Bengaluru's Shangri-La hotel and was attended by 135 newly elected MLAs. Sushil Kumar Shinde (former Maharashtra Chief Minister), Jitendra Singh (All IndiaCC GS), and Deepak Babaria (former AICC GS) also attened the meeting as observers, appointed by party president Mallikarjun Kharge.
