'Priyanka Gandhi Should Have Contested Raebareli Seat, But...': BJP Says Cong Imposes Decisions On Workers, People

Bharatiya Janata Party leader and former Congress spokesperson Rohan Gupta said, "ideally Priyanka Gandhi should have been fielded from the Raebareli seat".

After Congress finally put an end to the specualation around the candidates from Raebareli and Amethi, fielding the former Congress president and Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi from Raebareli and Congress loyalist Kishori Lal Sharma from Amethi, Bharatiya Janata Party leader Rohan Gupta criticised Congress' decision and said that "ideally Priyanka Gandhi should have been fielded from the Raebareli seat".

Former Congress spokesperson Gupta said that he had clearly told the current advisor because of whom he claimed to have left the party, that Congress doesn't consider the grassroots feedback and just impose their decisions on the poeple.

The Congress turncoat further said: "I have been in Amethi and Raebareli in the last 2019 election for 20 days and I know the grassroots sentiments. Amethi has given blessings to the Gandhi family for 31 years. It was only the last time when they wanted change. I think the people of Amethi always wanted that support from the Congress party, that confidence from the Congress party. I think the message is wrong, the feedback is wrong."

Slamming the decision of the grand old party, Gupta said: "This decision clearly shows the power of the so-called advisors who just sit in the AC cabin and try to dictate the narrative on the ground through their arrogance. But people are not going to accept this.It is not about a particular candidate, it is about the overall narrative."

"This decision should have been well thought of, well strategised in advance and well executed rather than imposing this decision at the last moment on the workers and on the leaders and on the people," the BJP leader who joined the saffron camp on April 11, added.

Priyanka Gandhi's Remark On Congress' Nominations

After the party announced the candidates from the two key Lok Sabha constituencies, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi wrote on X: "Our familuy has had a long association with Kishori Lal Sharma ji. He has always been dedicated to serving the people of Amethi and Raebareli. His passion for public service is an example in itself."

Expressing her joy over KL Sharma's nomination, she added: "Today is a matter of great joy that the Congress party has fielded him from Amethi. Kishori Lal Ji's loyalty and dedication towards duty will definitely bring him success in this election. Best wishes."
