AAP’s Loss Becomes BJP’s Gain — 8 Outgoing MLAs Defect Just 4 Days Before Delhi Polls
All the eight MLAs had resigned from the Aam Aadmi Party's primary membership on Friday, accusing the Arvind Kejriwal-led party of corruption and deviating from its ideology.

Eight outgoing AAP MLAs on Saturday joined the BJP, with just four days to go for the Delhi Assembly polls on February 5. All the eight MLAs had resigned from the Aam Aadmi Party's primary membership on Friday, accusing the Arvind Kejriwal-led party of corruption and deviating from its ideology.
Notably, all the eight legislators were also denied poll tickets by the AAP in this election.
The eight MLAs who joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are Vandana Gaur (Palam), Girish Soni (Madipur), Rohit Mehraulia (Trilokpuri), Madan Lal (Kasturba Nagar), B S Joon (Bijwasan), Rajesh Rishi (Uttam Nagar), Naresh Yadav (Mehrauli), and Pawan Sharma (Adarsh Nagar).

After resigning from the AAP's primary membership, the leaders confirmed that they had also sent their resignation letters to the Assembly speaker, officially relinquishing their membership of the House.
Pawan Kumar Sharma had said that AAP was created on honesty but lost its way. Naresh Yadav accused Kejriwal's party of corruption, while Rohit Kumar alleged AAP ignored Dalit issues and used them for votes. BS Joon also accused the AAP of moving away from its values.

Former AAP MLA Vijender Garg and several other leaders of the AAP also joined the saffron party in the presence of Baijayant Panda, BJP's national vice-president and the in-charge of Delhi, and state president Virendra Sachdeva.
Panda welcomed the eight MLAs and leaders into the BJP, calling it is "historic" day as they got rid of "AAPda" (disaster).He also expressed hope that Delhi too will be freed from it after the February 5 polls.
The 70-member Delhi Assembly elections are scheduled for February 5, with the results set to be declared on February 8.
