AAP Suffers Major Setback As MP Sushil Kumar Rinku, MLA Sheetal Angural Join BJP
AAP's lone Lok Sabha MP Sushil Kumar Rinku and Punjab MLA Sheetal Angural joined the BJP in Delhi.
Lok Sabha Elections: In a major setback to the Aam Aadmi Party ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, party MP from Punjab's Jalandhar Sushil Kumar Rinku and MLA in the state Sheetal Angural joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in Delhi on Wednesday.
Rinku, the MP from Jalandhar in Punjab, and Angural, who was elected to the state Assembly from Jalandhar West, joined the saffron party in the presence of Union minister Hardeep Singh Puri and its national general secretary Vinod Tawde.

After joining the BJP, Sushil Kumar Rinku said that it is true that the promises were not fulfilled because AAP did not support him. "It is true that the promises I made to the people of Jalandhar were not fulfilled because my party (AAP) did not support me. I am impressed with the working style of PM Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah," Rinku said.

"I have taken this decision for the development of Jalandhar. We will take Jalandhar forward. We will bring all the projects of the Central Government to Jalandhar," Rinku told ANI.

Last year, Rinku quit the Congress to join the AAP to contest the bypoll to the Jalandhar Lok Sabha seat. He was a vocal critic of the saffron party in the Lower House of Parliament. Rinku was even suspended from the Lok Sabha for his unruly protests.
