WB Board Exam 2024: 32 Students Disqualified From Class 12 Exam For Taking Mobile Phones Inside Exam Centre

In the WB Board Exam 2024, a total of 32 students have been disqualified from the Class 12 examination for breaching exam protocols by bringing mobile phones into the exam centre.

Kolkata: Thirty-two candidates have been disqualified from the Class 12 Board examination in West Bengal for breaching exam regulations by bringing mobile phones into the exam centre, an official said on Wednesday. On Wednesday alone, four candidates were caught using mobile phones during exams, resulting in the cancellation of their candidature for the entire examination, President of West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education Chiranjib Bhattacharya said in a statement.

He said that a total of 32 students had been discovered using mobile phones in the examination hall, leading to the cancellation of all their papers.

Among these incidents, two candidates were found with smartphones during the Mathematics paper, while the other two were intending to write the History examination.

"The steps were adopted to prevent any malpractices, including taking images of the question papers and circulating those on social media…," he told PTI.

"We have zero tolerance for such acts. The ones disqualified cannot sit for exams for one year," Bhattacharya said.

To address concerns about test paper leaks, the council has introduced for the first time a unique serial number for each question paper, he said.

One person was arrested recently from Nadia district for "promising to share question papers in exchange for money", another council official said.
