PM Modi To Inaugurate VAIBHAV Summit Today; Here’s How It Aims To Help Researchers And Academicians

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the Vaishvik Bhartiya Vaigyanik (VAIBHAV) Summit which is going to be held from 2 October.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the 'VAIBHAV Summit' which is a platform that brings together overseas and resident Indian researchers and academicians. A statement released by the PMO elaborates that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Vaishvik Bhartiya Vaigyanik (VAIBHAV) Summit on October 2 at 6:30 PM via video conferencing according to a statement released. The summit aims to bring Indian-origin researchers and academicians from across the world and from within the country to a single platform to debate and collaborate to strengthen academic and science and technology (S&T) base in India for global development. The global virtual VAIBHAV Summit will be for overseas and resident Indian researchers and academicians, it will be conducted from October 2 to 31, 2020. The summit is organized by 200 academic institutes and S&T departments and will be led by the Principal Scientific Advisor of the Government of India. In a tweet, Prime Minister expressed how he was looking forward to the summit, 'Looking forward to tomorrow's Vaibhav Summit, which brings together scientists as well as researchers from the Indian diaspora.'   • VAIBHAV Summit involves multiple levels of interactions among overseas experts and Indian counterparts over a month-long series of webinars, video-conferences, etc. The aim is to form collaborations to strengthen the science and technology base in India.
  • More than 3,000 overseas Indian origin academicians and scientists from 55 countries and more than 10,000 resident academicians and scientists are being expected to participate in the summit.
  • Over 1,500 panelists from 40 countries, 200 leading Indian R&D and academic institutions will virtually deliberate in 18 different areas and 80 topics in more than 200 deliberation sessions.
  • The concluding session will be held on the occasion of Sardar Patel Jayanti, October 31, 2020.
