Tamil Nadu: Many Districts Declare Holiday For Schools In View Of Heavy Rain Forecast
In light of the heavy rain forecast, several districts in Tamil Nadu have declared a holiday for schools.
The district administration of three districts in Tamil Nadu has announced a holiday today, June 19 due to the meteorological department's forecast of heavy rainfall. The District Collector of Tiruvallur said that due to the heavy rains and rain forecast, leave is declared for all the schools in Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur and Chengalpattu districts for today. Schools in Ranipet and Vellore will also remain closed today.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Tamil Nadu is expected to experience heavy rainfall on June 19, while light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is predicted over the state in the next five days. Additionally, there is a likelihood of light to moderate rain in many areas with thunderstorms and lightning in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal.
The IMD has further specified that heavy rain may occur in one or two locations within districts such as Kancheepuram, Chengalpattu, Tiruvannamalai, Kallakurichi, Villupuram, Cuddalore, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Tiruvarur, Thanjavur, Tiruchirappalli, Ariyalur, and Perambalur in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal.

Summer Vacation Extended In MP Schools
The school education department of Madhya Pradesh has extended the summer vacation considering the prevailing heatwave conditions. The primary students will resume their classes on July 1, while students from 6th to 12th grade will start on June 20. The School Education Minister Inder Singh Parmar said that classes for students in grades 6 to 12 will be held in the morning shift from June 20 to June 30. From July 1, all schools in the state will return to their regular schedules. Additionally, Class 5 examinations will proceed as originally scheduled, unaffected by the vacation extension.
