Schools Closed: Mumbai Schools, Colleges Closed Due To Heavy Rain, Waterlogging

Mumbai Schools Closed: Due to heavy rainfall today, all private and government schools and other educational institutions will remain closed.

Mumbai Schools Closed: Due to heavy rain in the city, a holiday has been declared for the first session for all BMC, government, and private schools and colleges in Mumbai (BMC area). Schools for both the first and second sessions are closed, as reported by news agency ANI.

According to the BMC, Mumbai has recorded over 300 mm of rainfall in various locations within six hours, from 1 am to 7 am today. The heavy rain has caused waterlogging in some low-lying areas and disrupted suburban train services. More heavy rain is expected today.

The Civic body stated that the entire BMC machinery is actively working in the field and requested Mumbaikars not to believe in rumors.

Waterlogging has been reported in Worli, Buntara Bhavan in Kurla East, King's Circle, Dadar, and Vidyavihar Railway Station. At King's Circle, a commuter remarked, "My car is stuck on the road. There is no point in blaming the government for the rains. The government is doing its job."

"Train services are affected at Sion and between Bhandup and Nahur stations. Rainwater was above the tracks so trains were stopped for nearly an hour. Now the water has receded a bit so trains are restarting but services are still affected," the CPRO said.

Central Railway reported delays on the suburban and Harbour Line trains due to waterlogging. The affected stations included Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Kurla, Vikhroli, and Bhandup. Additionally, the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) announced that several of its bus routes had to be diverted due to the waterlogged conditions.
