Rajasthan RAS Mains 2024: Students Arrive At Exam Centres Amid Demands For Postponement

RAS Mains 2025 begin today, June 17, amid protests, legal petitions, and calls for postponement. Candidates demand 2023 results, answer sheets, and an annual exam calendar from RPSC.

The Rajasthan Administrative Service (RAS) Mains Examination 2025 has begun today, June 17, under tight security and amid ongoing protests from aspirants. Thousands of candidates across the state arrived at exam centres early in the morning for the first session, held from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, with the second session scheduled from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM.

Despite days of unrest, hunger strikes, and mounting pressure from aspirants to postpone the exam, the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) went ahead with the schedule. Admit cards were released on June 14, confirming that the exam would proceed as planned on June 17 and 18.

“We were hoping for a postponement given the circumstances. But now we just want to focus and do our best,” said a candidate outside a Jaipur exam centre this morning.

Protests and Legal Caveat

Aspirants have been protesting for over a week, demanding a deferral of the Mains exam. Many argue that the final results of the RAS 2023 cycle should be declared before conducting the 2024-25 Mains. Several students even launched hunger strikes, with some being hospitalized due to health complications.

In anticipation of possible legal challenges, the RPSC filed a caveat in the Rajasthan High Court, requesting that no interim relief be granted without hearing the Commission’s side.

Aspirants’ Four Key Demands

The protesting candidates have laid out four major demands:

  1. Declare RAS 2023 Final Results First
They want the ongoing recruitment cycle to be completed before the next begins.

  2. Share RAS 2023 Answer Sheets
Aspirants are asking for transparency through access to their Mains answer booklets.

  3. Postpone Mains for Armed Forces & Border Candidates
Aspirants from military and border areas have requested a deferral citing logistical hardships.

  4. Release an Annual Exam Calendar
Candidates want RPSC to publish a structured recruitment schedule to avoid confusion.
