Professor Faizan Mustafa Appointed As New Vice-Chancellor Of CNLU Patna
Professor Mustafa has served as the dean and registrar at the Aligarh Muslim University, former VC of NALSAR Hyderabad, as well as the founding VC of NLU Odisha.
Professor Faizan Mustafa has been appointed as the new vice-chancellor of the Chanakya National Law University (CNLU) Patna. Professor Mustafa will succeed Dr Mridula Mishra, the outgoing CNLU VC. Previously Dr Mustafa has served as the dean and registrar at the Aligarh Muslim University. He has also served as the former vice-chancellor of the National Academy of Legal Studies And Research. He has also served as the founding vice-chancellor of the National Law University Odisha (NLU Odisha).
Professor Mustafa holds a BA LLB degree, an LLM in criminal law, and a Ph.D in copyright law from the Aligarh Muslim University. He also holds a diploma in International and Comparative Human Rights Law from the International Institute of Human Rights.
In his illustrious career, professor Mustafa has also served as the director of the Kalinga Institute of Information Technology (KIIT) school of law, as well as a visiting faculty at the Kautilya School of Public Policy.

A gold medallist in the LLM course, professor Mustafa has authored several books, besides publishing national and international papers. A winner of the Shah Waliullah International Award of Institute of Objective Studies, New Delhi for his paper on ‘Constitutionalism in Islamic Perspective,’ professor Mustafa also received the SAARC’s Best Law Teacher Award in 2014.
Besides, professor Mustafa has also been the recipient of the Commonwealth Scholarship as well as the Fulbright Fellowship. The reputed law teacher has delivered lectures in as many as 32 countries and also runs a YouTube channel named Faizan Maustafa’s Legal Awareness WebSeries, which has over 700,000 subscribers.
Professor Mustafa’s appointment as the new CNLU Patna VC comes following the recommendations of the search committee headed by former Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra, a Hindustan Times report reported Prof SP Singh, social sciences dean and facilitator of the search committee, as saying.
