PM Modi To Inaugurate New IIM Jammu Campus On February 20

The IIM Jammu’s new campus spread across 200 acres of land in Jagti, and has been brought to life with a project cost of Rs 500.91 crore.

PM Modi will inaugurate the newly built campus of the IIM (Indian Institute of Management) Jammu on February 20, 2024. The new campus of the IIM Jammu is located in Jagti across a sprawling area of 200 acres, and at a project cost of Rs 500.91 crore. PM Modi will inaugurate the new campus at 11:00 am on February 20, as per an IIM Jammu statement. The IIM Jammu also announced the inauguration through a notice on its official website as well as its official handle on X (formerly Twitter). 

“Under the leadership of Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director of IIM Jammu, the Institute embarked on a journey with the construction of its new campus in Jagti. Spanning 200 acres and built at a project cost of Rs. 500.91 crores, the new campus reflects IIM Jammu's commitment to providing world-class infrastructure conducive to holistic development of students,” reads the official statement. 

“Despite being the youngest of IIMs, IIM Jammu has earned recognition, ranking 15th overall among all IIMs in the NIRF Rankings 2023. The Institute offers MBA, Executive MBA, Ph.D, MBA in Hospital Administration and Healthcare Management jointly with AIIMS Jammu and IIT Jammu, Dual Degree Programme (B. Tech +MBA) with IIT Jammu. Driven by its vision to develop global leaders and entrepreneurs, IIM Jammu is committed to serving as a catalyst for positive change in the U.T of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh,” Prof B.S. Sahay said.

Established in the year 2016 by the Ministry of Human Resource and Development, the IIM Jammu started functioning with a campus at Canal Road, initially. What started operations with just 47 students in 2016 for its first batch, the IIM Jammu has grown exponentially over its years and is currently home to over 1,200 students receiving quality education in various areas of management. 

Notably, PM Modi will be visiting the Union Territory of Jammu on February 20, 2024. During his visit, PM Modi will be inaugurated various developmental projects in Jammu and Kashmir worth over 3,161 crore rupees. Considering the visit, security has been beefed up not only around Jammu, but also Kashmir with several checkpoints on entry and exits. 

During his Jammu visit, PM Modi will also address a public rally at the MA Stadium. Further, the Prime Minister will also be inaugurating the AIIMS Jammu, Devika river project in Udhampur, and the world’s highest railway bridge over river Chenab.
