PM Modi Inaugurates 16 Residential Schools For Needy Children In Uttar Pradesh

At a cost of around Rs 1,115 crore, these 16 schools aim to offer quality education to underprivileged children, including laborers' offspring and COVID-19 orphans.

Varanasi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated 16 residential schools in Uttar Pradesh known as "Atal Awasiya Vidyalayas." These schools constructed at a cost of approximately Rs 1,115 crore, aim to provide quality education to children from disadvantaged backgrounds, including the offspring of laborers, construction workers and those orphaned during the COVID-19 pandemic. Each of these residential schools can accommodate up to 1,000 students and is designed to offer a comprehensive educational experience, featuring classrooms, playgrounds, recreational areas, mini auditoriums, hostels, mess facilities, and staff quarters. These schools are expected to improve access to quality education and support the holistic development of children.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inspected a model of one of the schools to be constructed under the Atal Awasiya Vidyalaya initiative. The construction of these schools, each spread over 12-15 acres, is underway at an average cost of nearly Rs 65 crore per school. Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdowns, the government's strong commitment ensured that the construction of these schools was completed on schedule.

Two more such schools are currently under construction and are expected to be finished by the end of the year. Additionally, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced that in the second phase, every district will have an Atal Awasiya Vidyalaya.
