NMMS West Bengal 2023: Registrations Begin On scholarships.wbsed.gov.in - Here’s How To Apply And Other Details

Interested and eligible candidates can apply for the NMMS Scholarship 2023 till July 25, 2023, on scholarships.wbsed.gov.in.

Attention candidates! The Department of School Education and Literacy, West Bengal, has started the registration process for the National Means-Cum-Merit Scholarship (NMMS) online. Students who are eligible and interested in this scholarship can apply for the scholarship on the official website - wbsed.gov.in. The application process for the scholarship began on June 23, and the last date to submit registration cum application forms is July 25, 2023. 

Notably, the Ministry of Education conducts the NMMS scholarship every year to shortlist suitable candidates of Class 8 from the economically weaker sections. The scholarship is aimed at providing financial support in the form of scholarships to help students from the financially weaker sections. As per the official schedule, the test for the scholarship will be conducted on December 17, 2023. 

The NMMS Scholarship Test will be conducted in the online CBT (Computer Based Test) mode. The exam will be held in two sessions on the same day and consist of Objective-Type Questions. Each of the exam sessions will consist of 90 total marks.

NMMS Scholarship 2023: Eligibility Criteria

Candidates who have passed their Class 8 Final Examination with at least 55% aggregate marks are eligible to appear for the NMMS Scholarship Exam 2023. Candidates wishing to apply for the scholarship must be studying in a government, government-aided, local body and government sponsored school without residential facilities including Madrassas. 

Candidates must note that students studying in Kendriya Vidyalayas, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas and State Government run residential schools or any Private schools are not eligible to apply for the NMMS Scholarship. Moreover, the annual family income of applicants should not exceed 3.5 lakhs from all sources. Applicants will also be required to submit their family income certificates for the scholarship. 

NMMS Scholarship 2023: Steps To Apply

  • Visit the official website - scholarships.wbsed.gov.in
  • On the homepage, register using basic details to generate your registration number
  • Login to the portal again using your registration number and password
  • Fill in the application form with all required details
  • Take a printout of the application along with the format for certificate from the Head of the School/Institution (HOI)
  • Get the HOI certificate signed with a seal and upload the certificate with family income certificate, first page of bank passbook, caste certificate and disability certificate
  • Candidates must get the documents authenticated from concerned school authority
  • Finally, click on the ‘Finalize Application’ button
