Classes for standard 10th and 12th will start from January 1: Karnataka Minister for Primary & Secondary Education S Suresh Kumar. The state government has also asked to resume the "Vidyagama" programme.
Bengaluru: The Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) led Karnataka government on Monday announced that schools will reopen and classes for students of standard 10th and 12th will resume from January 1. Karnataka's Minister for Primary & Secondary Education S Suresh Kumar, wrote a letter to all the district in-charges and MLAs/MLCs regarding the matter for reopening of schools. In his letter to authorities, the Education Minister stated that the government will also resume its continuous learning programme “Vidyagama” from Class 6 to 9 in a revised format.
The development comes after the state Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa chaired a meeting on December 19. During that meeting, a detailed report was submitted by the Technical Advisory Committee of the Karnataka Health Department. The report gave a green signal for starting the classes and also mentioned to resume “Vidyagama” for the students from class sixth to ninth.
