Gujarat, Haryana Set To Reopen Schools As Covid Cases Recede - Check What's Allowed & What's Not

Haryana Education Minister Kanwar Pal, who briefed in this regard, said the schools will be reopened for other classes too if the Covid-19 situation remains normal.

Chandigarh/Gandhinagar: With the Covid-19 cases on the decline, the Haryana government on Friday announced to reopen schools from Classes 9 to 12 from July 16 with social distancing.

Haryana Education Minister Kanwar Pal, who briefed in this regard, said the schools will be reopened for other classes too if the Covid-19 situation remains normal.

The decision comes after Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar presided over a review meeting regarding the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) in the state.

The Haryana Government had earlier decided to extend the summer vacation till June 15 due to the Covid-19 situation in the state.

Meanwhile, Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani also announced that the state would reopen the schools for Class 12 students and colleges for under-graduate and post-graduate students from July 15.

“50% of the students will be allowed to attend campuses. The students can attend physical classes on a voluntary basis. The attendance will not be mandatory,” ANI quoted Rupani as saying.

Rupani also announced to increase the age limit of Mukhyamantri Bal Seva Yojana from 18 years to 21 years.

A monthly stipend of Rs 4,000 will be provided to children, whose parents have died due to Covid-19, under this scheme.
