'Examinees Travelled A Long Way': NEET PG Applicants Fume As Exam Postponed Hours Before

NEET PG 2024:The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has postponed the NEET PG 2024 exam, which was originally scheduled for today, June 23, 2024.

NEET PG 2024: The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has postponed the NEET PG 2024 exam, which was originally scheduled for Sunday, June 23, 2024. The NEET PG 2024 exam will be rescheduled, and a new date announced soon, the government said. The postponement is the latest controversy surrounding the medical entrance test, and comes on the heels of a raging row surrounding the integrity of the UG exam conducted this year.

Several students took to social media platform X to express their frustration, especially complaining about the short notice at which the exam was postponed.

"Taking into consideration, the recent incidents of allegations regarding the integrity of certain competitive examinations, Ministry of Health has decided to undertake a thorough assessment of the robustness of processes of NEET-PG Entrance Examination, conducted by National Board of Examination for medical students. It has accordingly been decided, as a precautionary measure to postpone the NEET-PG Entrance Examination, scheduled to be held tomorrow i.e. 23rd June, 2024," a government statement said.

'I Travelled 600 Km'

A user on X expressed concern over the sudden postponement of the exam, saying, “...NEET-UG exam's paper got leaked, NEET-PG was postponed 12 hours before, NEET-SSC exam date has not been announced yet. This shows how much govt is concerned about the health sector. The Union Health Minister and Union Education Minister must apologise for what they have done...students and doctors have travelled a long way for the exam and come here, they have incurred a lot of expenses. On an average, Rs 10,000 was the expenditure. Govt must reimburse these expenditures.”

Another user said, "NEET PG candidates had reached the exam centres in other states to take the exam, but 9 hours before the exam an order comes that the exam has been postponed, the date will be announced later. Due to the policies of the Modi government, the youth of the country are extremely helpless and troubled."

Speaking to news agency ANI, NEET PG candidate Sunanda Pansari said the postponement was "extremely wrong". "I have travelled 600 km to attend the exam. The exam was scheduled for March after which it for postponed to July. Later they postponed their exam and now they have postponed the exam again. We should have been informed at least 24 hours before. There is no information on the paper leak as of now..."

In another post on X, a user wrote, "If you ever think your life is not a joke, please try becoming a doctor in India. Your views are definitely going to change."

The Ministry of Education has set up a high-level committee of experts to suggest improvements in the conduct of various exams, enhance data security, and boost the efficiency of the National Testing Agency (NTA), which organises NEET.
