ED Raids 8 Locations Linked To FIITJEE In Delhi-NCR Over 'Sudden Closure Of Centres'

Several FIITJEE centres abruptly closed down in January, without any notice, affecting the future of nearly 12,000 students. Parents had filed police complaints in Delhi and Noida after the closures.

The Enforcement Directorate on Thursday carried out raids at several locations in Delhi-NCR in connection with a Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) case against promoters and owners of the coaching institute FIITJEE, which recently shut its centres abruptly.

According to news agency ANI, ED is taking action post various FIRs registered in Uttar Pradesh and Delhi in the matter. The central probe agency is raiding locations in Delhi and neighbouring Noida and Gurugram, including those of the promoters of the coaching institute.

Several FIITJEE centres were abruptly closed down across the country in January 2025, without any notice. Following this, the parents alleged that they had made advance payments for the entire year, and that the coaching centres did not inform them about the sudden closure of their centre, affecting the academic future of 12,000 students.

The parents filed complaints against the institute, leading the Noida and Delhi Police to register FIRs. "The parents said they deposited lakhs of rupees as fee but they got no service or refund," news agency PTI reported citing officials.

The searches are also being conducted at the residential premises of the alleged conspirators, which also includes one of the promoters, DK Goel. The allegations include diversion of funds taken from coaching centres towards personal gains and other entities, ED said.

Previous Actions Against FIITJEE

The ED action comes after the Noida police froze over 300 bank accounts connected to FIITJEE and seized Rs 60 lakh in cash. Meanwhile, the institute's owners allegedly made a profit of Rs 12 crore, which has triggered outrage among parents and students alike.

In January, multiple FIITJEE centres, including those in Noida's Sector 62, Greater Noida, and Ghaziabad's Raj Nagar were shut down abruptly. The first FIR was then registered in Ghaziabad against four individuals.

This was followed by a second FIR in Noida on January 24, which named nine FIITJEE officials. Later, a third case was filed in Greater Noida against four individuals at the Knowledge Park police station.

FIITJEE, which provides coaching for competitive exams to engineering aspirants,  had dismissed the complaints against it as "malicious prosecutions," calling allegations a part of a "criminal conspiracy by individuals with vested interests."
