Delhi University Directs Colleges To Keep Classrooms, Labs Open Till 8 PM For 'Optimum' Use Of Resources

The Delhi University has instructed its colleges to keep their classrooms and laboratories open until 8 pm on all working days to ensure the optimum utilization of resources.

New Delhi: The Delhi University has issued a notification to all its colleges and departments to keep their classrooms and laboratories open on all working days from 8 am to 8 pm. This measure aims to ensure the maximum utilization of resources. The notification was uploaded on the university's website on Thursday. Additionally, the colleges and departments have been instructed to submit an action taken report before May 31. According to a university official, this mandate was not in place before.

In the notification, the university stated that it had revised the timings in accordance with the University Grants Commission's (UGC) guidelines, aimed at extending the availability of all resources to students. The UGC's guidelines, issued on January 14, were intended for central universities and other higher educational institutions.

"The University Grants Commission vide its communication D.O. No. F.13-10/2022 (CU) dated 11th January 2023 issued by the Secretary, UGC has requested the central universities and HEIs to make appropirtae meaures for the implementation of the UGC Guidelines for Optimal Utilization of Resources available in Central Universities/Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) so as to extend the benefits to the UG/PG students and researchers," said DU in a official notice.

"Accodingly, all the colleges and departments are required to take appropriate measures to open the classrooms and laboratory facilities from 08:00 am to 08:00 pm on all working days," DU added.

Registration Begins For Vice Chancellor Internship Scheme

The University of Delhi has commenced the application process for the Vice Chancellor Internship Scheme. Students pursuing undergraduate or postgraduate programs can apply for the summer internship 2023 program on the official website at dsw.du.ac.in.

Those selected for the internship will receive a monthly stipend of Rs 10,000 and will be awarded a certificate by the Dean of Student Welfare upon successful completion of the program.
