Delhi To Launch 'Deshbhakti Curriculum' In Govt Schools Today, Know All About It

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal along with Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister Manish Sisodia will roll out the curriculum for students from Nursery to Class 12 today.

New Delhi: Delhi government will launch the Deshbhakti Curriculum in Delhi government schools on Tuesday, September 28, 2021. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal along with Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister Manish Sisodia will roll out the curriculum for students from Nursery to Class 12 today to mark the event of the birth anniversary of freedom fighter Shaheed Bhagat Singh. The Curriculum is in line with the chief minister's vision to make students true patriots.

"Marking the birth anniversary of revolutionary freedom fighter Shaheed Bhagat Singh tomorrow, Hon'ble CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal will launch the Deshbhakti Curriculum in Delhi Government schools, along with Hon'ble Dy CM and Education Minister Shri Manish Sisodia," Delhi CMO tweeted on Monday.

Earlier Delhi Education Minister had said that the government seeks to combine patriotism with the guidance of teaching and learning in Delhi Government Schools.

What is Deshbhakti Curriculum?

The Deshbhakti Curriculum Framework draws three primary goals - Knowledge, Values, and Behaviour.

According to the Directorate of Education (DoE), under the Deshbhakti curriculum, one period each day will be allotted to the students of Nursery to Class 8 for patriotism studies, while two classes per week will be allotted to the students of classes 9 to 12.

"Every Deshbhakti period shall start with a five-minute ‘Deshbhakti Dhyaan’, where the teacher and students shall practice mindfulness, reflect on their gratitude for the country, freedom fighters, and any five persons that they consider Deshbhakti, and pledge their respect for the country," reads the official statement issued by the DoE last week.
