CM Advocates Organising Seminars To Make Students Aware Of Their Constitutional Rights

Arunachal CM Pema Khandu urged schools to hold seminars on constitutional rights and duties.

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Tuesday suggested that the state Assembly Speaker, in collaboration with the Education Department, organize seminars in schools to educate students about their constitutional rights and duties, as reported by news agency PTI.

Speaking at a National Constitution Day event at the Assembly Secretariat, Khandu emphasized the need to raise awareness among the youth about the Constitution's provisions to align with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of a "Vikshit Bharat" by 2047.

"PM Modi has set 2047 as the target for a developed India. To achieve this, we must understand the Constitution and work in that direction," Khandu said. He urged the state's people, especially the younger generation, to actively contribute to the vision of a developed Arunachal Pradesh and India.

Khandu highlighted that National Constitution Day was first celebrated in 2015 as a tribute to Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, the Chairman of the Drafting Committee, and other members of the committee who framed the Constitution. He also recalled Arunachal's transformation from the North East Frontier Agency (NEFA) to statehood on February 20, 1987.

Reflecting on the Constitution as the cornerstone of India's democracy, Khandu noted its evolving nature, adapting to societal changes while upholding core values. However, he also addressed the state's declining quality of education, attributing it to the unplanned proliferation of schools.
