CBSE Class 10 Spanish Exam 'Out Of Syllabus', Teachers Seek Retest

Several schools, teachers' groups, and parents have written to the CBSE, saying that the Spanish Term 1 paper for Class 10 contains out-of-syllabus questions and mistakes.

New Delhi: Complaints and petitions have erupted days after a contentious question surfaced in a CBSE Spanish exam paper, alleging an out-of-syllabus Class 10 Spanish question paper.

Several schools, teachers' groups, and parents have written to the CBSE, saying that the Spanish Term 1 paper for Class 10 contains out-of-syllabus questions and mistakes. Many others are calling for a retest.

On November 27, around 600 students from Delhi-NCR took the Spanish test.

Retest Of Spanish Exam

In a letter addressed to the Controller of Examinations (CBSE) Dr Sanyam Bhardwaj, the CBSE Spanish teaching community has appealed to the board to conduct the reexamination of CBSE Class 10 and 12 (2021-22) Term I Spanish Exam paper "due to several anomalies between the published syllabus by CBSE and the questions appeared on the exam paper."

"It is a suggestion from the community of Spanish teachers that whosoever has made the paper should have followed the syllabus strictly as per as Term 1. The paper should have been well proofread by a faculty who understands or has the experience in the school level teaching," reads the letter.

'Inadequate Vetting & Proofreading Of Question Paper'

The Spanish teaching community has complained to the CBSE about "inadequate" vetting and proofreading of the question paper.

In addition, it has been asserted that numerous questions had inaccuracies and erroneous alternatives. The pupils were dissatisfied since there were so many questions of a higher difficulty level that their scores were certain to decrease.
