Calcutta University To Give Students 3 Hrs For Final Yr Online Exams; Revokes Decision Giving 24 Hrs After UGC Concern
Calcutta University had earlier stated that it will give 24 hours to students for writing these exams. However, the UGC expressed its reservation to give candidates 24 hours.
Kolkata: Calcutta University has announced its decision to provide three hours for online final semester examinations to be held for undergraduate and postgraduate students who will be writing their papers from home. The university had earlier stated that it will give 24 hours to students for writing these exams. However, the UGC expressed its reservation to give candidates 24 hours, which was made the exams like an open book consultation. After this, the faculty council held an emergency meeting on Saturday.
"It has been decided that students in both UG and PG levels will write their papers in three hours. To address any possible network glitches, half an hour to one hour time will be allotted," a university official said.
Calcutta University will conduct final semester examinations from October 1 to 18 in the online mode and the results will be published by October 31. A notification in this regard will be issued soon.
"Questions will be sent to those who cannot appear for online exams via email and WhatsApp and have to submit the answers in hard copy to his/her respective institution after 24 hours," Vice-Chancellor Sonali Chakraborty Banerjee had informed earlier this month.
