A 21-year-old medical aspirant from Bihar allegedly committed suicide in Kota after being unable to achieve the desired marks in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) in two consecutive attempts. The deceased, identified as Roshan, hailed from Samastipur district in Bihar. He was discovered dead on Thursday evening by his brother, Suman, who is also preparing for competitive exams in Kota but resides separately, as reported by PTI.
While no suicide note was found in Roshan's room located in the Mahaveer Nagar Police station area, authorities suspect that he hung himself from the ceiling fan due to his perceived failure to qualify NEET-UG with satisfactory marks, even after attempting the exam for the second time. This incident sheds light on the immense pressure and mental health challenges faced by aspiring students in competitive exams.
According to the circle officer of Mahaveer Nagar area, DSP Harshraj Singh, Roshan and his brother Suman had been preparing for the NEET entrance exam while residing in separate locations in Kota. Roshan had recently visited his uncles in Delhi and returned to Kota on Thursday morning, where he had a conversation with his mother. However, when his parents tried to contact him later in the day, there was no response. Concerned, they asked Suman to visit Roshan's PG accommodation and check on him. To their devastating discovery, Suman found Roshan's lifeless body hanging from the ceiling fan in his third-floor room. Roshan was immediately taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
