Swati Maliwal Assault Case: In the latest updates pertaining to Aam Aadmi MP Swati Maliwal assault case, a team of the Delhi Police on Friday arrived at the residence of Bibhav Kumar, an aide of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal. Kumar is an accused in the case involving former DCW chief Maliwal. The cops returned from Kumar's residence after they were not allowed to enter the premises.

Former DCW chief Maliwal and the Aam Aadmi Party are at loggerheads over the purported video showing the AAP MP at Arvind Kejriwal’s residence. Maliwal said the video was shared without context, while the AAP claimed the video showed "Swati Maliwal's truth".

The Delhi Police said that a team of the NCW had reached Bibhav Kumar's residence to serve him a notice, and they had sought the help of the police.

On Friday, Swati Maliwal went to Tis Hazari court to record her statement before a magistrate about the alleged assault on her by Kejriwal's aide Kumar. An FIR was registered on Thursday in connection with the assault on Maliwal after she filed a complaint with the Police. Bibhav Kumar has been named in the FIR.

Swati Maliwal Assault Case: Top Points

1. In a post on X, NCW said that its officers attempted to serve a notice of hearing to Bibhav Kumar at his residence, but the occupants of the house refused to accept the notice, so the officers affixed it on the gate. "Officers of the NCW, along with the ACP of Civil Lines, New Delhi, attempted to serve a Notice of Hearing to Mr. Bibhav Kumar at his residence. When the occupants of the house refused to accept the notice, the officers affixed it on the gate of his residence. The hearing is scheduled for 18th May, 2024, at the NCW Office," the post read.

2. Bibhav Kumar did not appear before the National Commission for Women (NCW) on Friday in connection with the alleged assault on AAP Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal, as reported by PTI. The NCW had summoned Kumar to appear before it at 11 am.

3. NCW chief Rekha Sharma said a team of the commission had gone to Kumar's residence on Thursday to serve him a notice, but he was not home. "Kumar's wife refused to receive the notice. My team has gone to his residence again today with police and if he does not appear (before NCW) by tomorrow, then we will go personally to inquire," Sharma told reporters, as quoted by news agency PTI. She also stated that she would meet Maliwal.

4. In her complaint on Thursday, Maliwal revealed some grisly details of the alleged assault. She said that the attack by the Delhi CM's 'personal secretary' Bibhav Kumar was "unprovoked". She said she was abused, slapped, and kicked repeatedly and no help came despite the MP screaming out loud.

5. A video purportedly showing Swati Maliwal at Arvind Kejriwal’s residence on May 13 surfaced. However, the veracity of the video has not been confirmed. The Delhi Police took cognisance of the video and is investigating the people seen in the clip. Maliwal, however, said that the video had been shared without any context.

On Monday, the AAP MP went to the Civil Lines police station and alleged that a member of the Delhi chief minister's personal staff "assaulted" her at the chief minister's official residence, police officials had said. Meanwhile, the AAP MP moved Delhi's Tis Hazari court to record her statement in the case.
