Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP and former DCW chairperson Swati Maliwal on Monday went to the Civil Lines police station and alleged that a member of the Delhi chief minister's personal staff "assaulted" her at the chief minister's official residence, police officials had said. On Tuesday, Sanjay Singh addressed a press conference and said the incident with Maliwal was a "highly condemnable" one.
On Thursday, Maliwal gave a Police complaint in the assault case against Bibhav Kumar, a report in ANI said. The complaint came hours after senior Delhi Police officials visited the Swati Maliwal's residence. She was allegedly assaulted by Bibhav Kumar, former PS of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
The Delhi Police team, led by Additional Commissioner of Police P S Kushwaha, was at Maliwal's residence for more than four hours. Responding to the incident, the AAP MP stated that she has recorded her statement with the Delhi Police and the BJP should not indulge in politics over the incident.
"What happened to me was very bad. I have given my statement to the police on the incident that happened to me. I hope appropriate action will be taken. The past days have been very difficult for me. I thank those who prayed. Those who tried to indulge in character assassination, said that I was doing it at the behest of the other party, God bless them too," she said in a post on X in Hindi.
Earlier, Maliwal's husband Naveen Jaihind said that an FIR should be lodged over the alleged incident of “misbehaviour” with the former DCW chief at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's official residence in the national capital.
Jaihind called CM House "gutter house" and said that the alleged incident is dangerous and Swati's life is in danger because she has been threatened. He also claimed that Swati is being silenced and that she should come out. Jaihind also questioned MHA, Delhi Police, and NCW for maintaining "silence" on the matter and said that the police should take cognisance of the matter. He also claimed that AAP MP Sanjay Singh also knew that such an incident would take place, and he was well aware of what happened.
