Ram Temple Event: Meat, Fish Shops Urged To Remain Closed In Delhi, Half-Day In Govt Offices On Jan 22

Delhi Meat Merchant Association general secretary Irshad Qureshi has appealed to all traders selling meat and fish in the city to close their shops on January 22.

Ram Temple Inauguration: In honour of the Ram temple consecration ceremony in Ayodhya, Delhi Meat Merchant Association general secretary Irshad Qureshi has appealed to all traders in the national capital selling meat and fish to close their shops on January 22. Meanwhile, Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Vinai Kumar Saxena has approved Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's proposal to close all the government offices till 2.30 PM in the city on January 22, news agency PTI reported, citing officials.

Speaking to PTI, Qureshi said that the motive behind the appeal is to promote unity and harmony between the two communities and bring people together. He said that all slaughter houses in the national capital along with shops selling meat and fish have been asked to keep their businesses closed for the day respecting the sentiments of the people for the "pran pratishtha" ceremony in Ayodhya.

"We have made an appeal to all slaughter houses and meat and fish sellers to close their shops on January 22 to show respect to the celebration of our Hindu brothers and sisters on the occasion of Ram temple inauguration," Qureshi said, as quoted by PTI. He further stated that shutting the business for a day would not impact the traders as much and the sentiments of both the communities should be respected.

The "pran pratishtha" ceremony in Ayodhya will take place on January 22 in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and will be attended by many VVIPs.
