Delhi: Two Workers Electrocuted In Preet Vihar And Shakarpur Areas
Two people, identified as Satender Negi and Mahipat, died in separate incidents of electrocution in east Delhi.
New Delhi: Two people died in separate incidents of electrocution in Delhi on Sunday, news agency PTI reported. The incidents took place in east Delhi’s Preet Vihar and Shakarpur areas respectively.
A 60-year-old worker, Satender Negi, a resident of Mandawali, died due to electrocution while working in the kitchen of a cafe in east Delhi’s Preet Vihar area, police said. They also said he got electrocuted by a geyser power board in the kitchen while keeping utensils in the rack at the cafe. He used to work as a peon at the cafe in Block A of Preet Vihar, and he was immediately rushed to Metro Hospital, where he was declared brought dead, reported PTI.
Speaking on the matter, Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Amrutha Guguloth said a crime team inspected the spot later. He also said a case under section 304 A (causing death due to negligence) has also been registered against unknown persons at Preet Vihar police station and an investigation is currently underway.
In a separate incident, 28-year-old Mahipat, resident of Firozabad in Uttar Pradesh, got electrocuted at a sweet shop in east Delhi's Shakarpur area on Saturday, said police. He was declared dead on Sunday at the LNGP hospital, police said.
Mahipat had been working at the shop for the last 15 years. According to police officials, he was working on the second floor where he was using an electric grinder when the incident took place.
A senior police officer said the crime team, forensic and BSES team also investigated the spot of the incident. The area DCP, as quoted by PTI, said, "A case under section 304A (causing death due to negligence) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered at Shakarpur police station against the sweet shop owner Rakesh Gupta and his son Naveesh Gupta.”
Currently, the investigation into the matter is underway. Meanwhile, last month, Sakshi Ahuja (34) died after accidentally coming in contact with a live wire at the New Delhi Railway Station complex amid rainfall.
