MCD's Plan: 5 New Schools To Open Soon, Construction For 5 More To Begin By December

The MCD is planning to start 5 new schools shortly. In Addition, construction for 5 more schools to begin by December.

New Delhi: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) is on track to open five new schools in the near future, as about 95 percent of the construction work for these schools has been completed, PTI quoted a senior official as saying. These schools will be situated in Narela, Bawana, Prem Nagar, Janata Vihar, and Vishnu Garden, contributing to the educational infrastructure in these areas, the officer said. Additionally, the office of Mayor Shelly Oberoi has announced plans to lay the foundation stones for an additional five schools in December.

Mayor Shelly Oberoi conducted a comprehensive review meeting with Additional Commissioner Vikas Tripathi and senior officials from the Municipal Corporation of Delhi's education department on Wednesday. During the meeting, she assessed the advancement of school building construction projects in Narela, Bawana, Prem Nagar, Janata Vihar, and Vishnu Garden.

The education model of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is "also being implemented in the MCD," she was quoted as saying in the statement.

New buildings are in the planning stages for the remaining five MCD-run schools, with all necessary formalities related to their construction being expedited. The goal is to have the foundation stones for these schools laid by December, further advancing the development of educational infrastructure in the region, she said.

The AAP-led MCD is committed to providing the best facilities to the people of Delhi near their homes, she added.

Oberoi has instructed the education department officials to organize an Olympiad for students in classes 4 and 5. This initiative aims to provide children attending municipal corporation-run schools with the opportunity to gain experience in participating in competitive examinations.

The process of purchasing 1,500 tables and 37,000 chairs for the smooth operation of nursery classes and seating for small children should be completed as soon as possible, she said.

Oberoi also directed the officials to establish Miyawaki gardens on the campus of civic-run schools.
