Security Heightened Around Churches, Metro Stations And Other Public Places In Delhi After Kerala Blast
Security has been heightened around churches, metro stations, and other public places in Delhi in the wake of Kalamassery convention centre blast in Kerala.
Security has been beefed-up around churches and at metro stations in the national capital in the wake of a blast that took place at Kerala convention centre in Kalamassery on Sunday. Security has been tightened across main markets, churches, metro stations, bus stands, railway stations, and other public places, a senior police officer told news agency PTI on condition of anonymity.
"Teams have been informed to put barricades on the border area from Uttar Pradesh Side and Haryana side. Police in civil dress, riders and PCRs have been asked to stay on alert and not to ignore any information they receive," the officer said.
"We are already keeping strict vigil in overcrowded markets. Extra platoon deployment has already been done considering the festival season," the officer added.
One person was killed and 36 were injured after a blast rocked a convention centre of a Christian religious group in Kalamassery in Kerala's Kochi. Following the incident, government health officials were asked to report for duty and medical facilities were prepared near the site of the explosion.

Terming the incident as “unfortunate”, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan asserted that the government was taking the issue very seriously adding that top police officials were pressed into action.
Home Minister Amit Shah also dialled Vijayan to take stock of the situation and directed anti-terror agencies NIA and NSG to reach the spot.
10 of the injured persons were admitted to the burns unit of the Kalamassery Medical College and two of them who sustained over 50 per cent burns were shifted to another hospital, said Ernakulam District Collector NSK Umesh.
Kerala health minister Veena George directed the Director of the Health Department and the Director of the Medical Education Department to provide the best treatment to those injured in the Kalamasery explosion and the hospitals have been alerted.
