'Got Inspiration From Shravan Kumar': CM Kejriwal As He Meets Pilgrims Leaving For Tirupati Under Teerth Yatra Yojana

Kejriwal said that they drew inspiration from the life of Shravan Kumar to run the pilgrimage scheme.

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal met the pilgrims leaving for Tirupati under the Mukhyamantri Teerth Yatra Yojana on Monday. He urged the pilgrims to pray for the country and the people of Delhi.

Kejriwal said that they drew inspiration from the life of Shravan Kumar to run the pilgrimage scheme.

"The 89th train is being flagged off, and till now, 84,000 people have gone on pilgrimage. We got the inspiration for this (Teerth Yatra Yojana) from the life of Shravan Kumar, who carried his blind parents on his shoulder and took them to pilgrimage," Kejriwal said as he flagged off the Teerth Yatra train.

He also participated in a Bhajan Sandhya and interacted with senior citizens departing for Tirupati.

"I am very happy that you all are going to Tirupati today. You should pray for your families, the people of Delhi and for the peace and prosperity of the country," he said.

Kejriwal also took a dig at the BJP over the notice issued to him over AAP's claim that the BJP attempted to poach MLAs from the party.

He claimed that the Delhi Police was insulted by its political masters.

"The officers who came from the Crime Branch were made to do a lot of drama in front of my house. They didn't join the police force for this. Their political masters made a joke of the Delhi Police. They were asking who approached to buy AAP MLAs. Is this hidden from anyone? There is only one party in the country which is buying everyone..," the Delhi CM said.

Drama unfolded outside the residence of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday morning when a Crime Branch team arrived to serve him a notice in connection with allegations that the BJP had tried to poach seven AAP MLAs by offering them Rs 25 crore each.
