G20 Summit Delhi: If you are travelling to or from Delhi between September 8-10, here is everything you need to know on the restrictions and traffic advisories.

The Group of 20 or G20 Leaders' Summit, which will be held in New Delhi on September 9-10, is undoubtedly one of the highest-profile international gathering ever to be hosted by India. In view of the summit, which will be attended by leaders like US President Joe Biden, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, China's Xi Jinping, the Delhi government has declared a public holiday from September 8-10.

The Delhi Police has released a comprehensive advisory on traffic restrictions and provided alternative routes for vehicular movement during the G20 Summit, which will be held at the 'Bharat Mandapam' in Pragati Maidan in central Delhi.

If you are travelling to or from Delhi between September 8-10, here is everything you need to know on the restrictions and what's closed in the national capital.

G20 Summit: What Will Be Closed In Delhi

  • All government and private offices
  • Educational institutions, including schools and colleges
  • Supreme Court
  • Commercial banks and financial institutions
  • Shops and business establishments under New Delhi Police District
  • Markets in Connaught Place, Khan Market, Malcha Marg, Shankar Market, Janpath, Mohan Singh Place, Palika Bazar
  • Retail liquor stores under New Delhi Police District

G20 Summit: What Will Be Open In Delhi

  • Malls, markets outside NDMC limits
  • Essential services like milk booths, medical stores

G20 Summit: Will Delhi Metro Be Operational?

All metro stations and lines will operate as usual. However, boarding and deboarding at Supreme Court Metro Station will not be permitted from 5 am on September 9 to 11pm on September 10.

G20 Summit: Will Buses, Autos, Taxis Be Available?

Buses

NDMC area or Lutyens' Delhi will be a controlled zone and bus services will not be available. Buses will be allowed to operate on Ring Road and road beyond Ring Road.

Inter-state buses will be allowed entry into Delhi but their terminating points will be on the Ring Road. They will not be allowed to terminate at Inter-State Bus Terminals.

Autos and Taxis

No three-seater autos and taxis will be allowed to enter or ply in New Delhi district from 5 am on September 9 to 11.59 pm on September 10. Taxis will be allowed to ply on road networks outside New Delhi district.

However, taxis carrying bonafide residents and tourists having hotel bookings located inside the New Delhi district area will be allowed. Tourists will have to show valid hotel bookings and residents have to show documents to prove their identity.

G20 Summit: What About Flights And Those Headed To Delhi Airport

Delhi airport has said around 160 domestic flights have been cancelled in the national capital from September 8-10, ANI reported.

Those who have flights on the above dates have been advised to leave early for the airport and use the Delhi Metro Airport Express Line for seamless commute.

For those travelling to the airport by road, Delhi Police has recommended the following routes:

Gurugram to T3: NH-48 – Rao Gajraj Singh Marg – Old Delhi Gurugram Road – UER II – Service Road NH-48 – T3 Terminal Road

Gurugram to T1: NH-48 – Rao Gajraj Singh Marg – Old Delhi Gurugram Road – UER II – Service Road NH-48 – T3 Terminal Road – Service Road NH-48 – Sanjay T-Point – Ullan Batar Marg – Terminal T1

New Delhi and South Delhi to T3: AIIMS Chowk – Ring Road – Moti Bagh Chowk – RTR Marg – Sanjay T-Point – Service Road NH-48 – T3 Terminal Road

New Delhi and South Delhi to T1: AIIMS Chowk – Ring Road – Moti Bagh Chowk – RTR Marg – Sanjay T-Point –
Ullan Batar Marg – Terminal T1

A detailed advisory for those using the road has been uploaded on Delhi Traffic Police's website.

G20 Summit: Advisory For Railway Passengers

  • Road travel to the New Delhi Railway Station from Ajmeri Gate side will be affected on September 10 between 5 am and 1 pm.
  • For Old Delhi Railway Station, journeys from Shyama Prasad Mukherjee (SPM) road side will be affected on September 10 from 5 am to 1 pm.

G20 Summit: Other Key Things To Remember

  • For ambulance assistance service, people can call 6828400604.
  • A virtual help desk has been launched to help delegates and other tourists.
  • Flying of paragliders, hot air balloons, drones banned in Delhi till September 12.
  • Goods vehicles, except those carrying essential items with permission, will not be allowed to enter Delhi.
