G20 Summit: Delhi Police Issue Advisory On Bus Movement, Metro Services. Check Details

G20 Delhi Traffic Advisory: Delhi Police said restrictions would be imposed in the NDMC area but essential services would continue to function as usual.

Delhi police on Friday issued a detailed traffic advisory for the G20 Leaders' Summit, which will be held in New Delhi on September 9-10. Addressing the media, Delhi Police Special CP (Traffic) Surender Singh Yadav said restrictions would be imposed from September 7 midnight and would continue till September 10 night. 

However, Yadav said essential services, metro services would continue to function. The summit will be the highest-profile international gathering ever to be hosted by India and will see global leaders like US President Joe Biden, Chinese premier Xi Jinping, Russia's Vladimir Putin converging in Delhi.  

Delhi Police said restrictions would be imposed in the NDMC area, which houses the main summit venue. It will be a controlled zone in which authorised vehicles or visitors will be allowed.

G20 Summit 2023: Delhi Traffic Advisory

  • The NDMC area or Lutyens' Delhi will be a controlled zone and bus services will not be available. Bus services will be available beyond the Ring Road.
  • People have been advised to use Metro for commuting during the two days of G20 Summit since bus movement will be restricted in the Lutyens' Delhi.
  • Essential services like milk booths, medical stores will remain open in Delhi.
  • Restaurants, malls and markets will remain shut in NDMC area. No restrictions on malls, markets, and restaurants outside NDMC limits.
  • People living in Lutyens' Delhi or tourists with hotel bookings in the area will be allowed to commute through auto rickshaws and taxis. "People coming from Delhi Airport to Lutyens' Delhi region will only be allowed entry after proper verification of ID cards," Delhi Police said.
  • For ambulance assistance service, people can call 6828400604. The service will be launched from the night of September 7
  • Goods vehicles, except those carrying essential goods with permission, will be not allowed to enter Delhi during G20 Summit.
  • There will be no restrictions on the movement of ambulances, medical services or the people needing medical assistance.
  • A virtual help desk will be set up for delegates, tourists as well as citizens of Delhi. "We will provide information about various services including transportation services," Delhi Police Special CP (Traffic) said.
  • Buses coming from other states will be allowed to enter Delhi but not they will not be allowed to terminate at the Inter-State Bus Terminals.
