As Delhi Gears Up For G20, Rain Lashes Parts Of National Capital In Respite From Heat

Ahead of G20 Summit, rain lashed several parts of the national capital in the early hours of Saturday.

As Delhi gears up to host the G20 Summit, a spell of rain lashed several parts of the national capital in the early hours of Saturday, bringing the mercury down in the city. The two-day conclave will be held at the newly built international convention and exhibition centre, Bharat Mandapam, in New Delhi’s Pragati Maidan. The showers brought respite for the residents from intense heat.

Light rainfall was witnessed in parts of South West Delhi, including Vasant Kunj, Munirka, and Narela areas, in the early hours of today. As per the Regional Meteorological Centre in Delhi, the national capital will likely receive light rain in the forenoon on Saturday and Sunday.

According to the Regional Meteorological Centre, the maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 37 and 27 degrees Celsius respectively today. Earlier in July, heavy rains and the release of water from the Hathnikund barrage based in Haryana caused floods in the low-lying areas of the national capital and the adjoining areas.
