G20: Delhi Police Withdraws Order For Metro Station Gates Towards VVIP Spots To Be Closed From Sep 8-10
The Delhi Police metro unit has withdrawn its letter asking for gates of some metro stations that open towards VVIP spots during the G20 Summit to be closed from September 8 to 10.
The Delhi Police metro unit on Monday withdrew its prior order where it asked the Chief Security Commissioner to close the gates of some metro stations in the national capital from September 8 to 10 that open towards the VVIP route or venue of summit or place of stay ahead of the G20 summit. In a letter to the Chief Security Commissioner dated September 2, the Deputy Commissioner of Police Metro asked to close the gates of some metro stations in order to maintain foolproof security arrangements during the upcoming G20 Summit scheduled to take place on September 9 and 10.
Now, as per Delhi Police, train services will be available at all stations except Supreme Court station, where the services will be affected, news agency ANI reported.
The September 2 letter stated, “As you are aware that G-20 Summit-2023 is round the corner and we are making all possible efforts to enhance the security matrix. Hence, in order to maintain foolproof security arrangements during the upcoming Summit, it is required to ensure that the gate Nos, as mentioned against each of following Metro Station that open towards the VVIPS Route/venue of Summit/Place of stay may be closed from 08.09.2023 to 10.09.2023”.

“Furthermore in this regard, it is also stated that during the course, if any Gate-Closing request is received from any Districts DCSP/PHQ or if circumstances warrants, it shall be informed immediately at short notice for expeditious action at your end please,” it added.
Gate numbers 1, 2, and 3 of Khan Market metro station, 1, 3, and 4 gate numbers of Janpath metro station, all gates of Supreme Court metro station, and 1, 2, and 3 gate numbers of Bhikaji Cama
Place metro stations have been requested to remain closed during the summit.
Other metro stations mentioned in the list include Lajpat Nagar, Ashram, Barakhamba, R.K. Puram IIT, Hauz Khas, Malviya Nagar, Central Secretariat, Mandi House, ITO, Delhi Gate among others.

Delhi Police Conducts Full Dress Rehearsal
Ahead of the G20 Summit, the Delhi Police on Sunday held full dress rehearsals where
forces escorted carcades from different parts in the national capital. The first rehearsal was held from 8 am to 9 am, the second one was held between 9:30 am to 10 am, and the last will be held from 12:30 pm to 4 pm, reported news agency PTI.
On Friday, the Delhi Police officials stated that comprehensive security plans have been made for the G20 Summit to guarantee there is no infiltration, terror act, or sabotage.
The Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) and the National Security Guard (NSG) are also stated to be aiding the Delhi Police with the arrangements. Madhup Tiwari, Special Commissioner of Police, Security, stated at a news conference that a special commissioner of police-rank officer will command security at the major venues.
