A fire broke out at slums in Delhi's Jahangirpuri area on Sunday and at least 11 fire engines reached the spot to contain the blaze. The fire had started in an open area where garbage was lying and is is being extinguished, but the cooling process will take time, an official said.

"We received information about a fire in the slums of Jahangirpuri area. 11-12 fire engines reached the spot. We found that the fire had started in an open area where garbage was lying. The fire is being extinguished, but the cooling process will take time": Rajeev Kumar Sinha, Assistant Divisional Officer, Delhi Fire Service said, as per ANI.

The fire broke out in the shanty in northwest Delhi's Jahangirpuri broke out at 10.23 am, news agency PTI reported officials as saying. 

In another incident, fire broke out at a hostel of the Maulana Azad Medical College in the national capital on Sunday morning but there was no loss of life, officials said, as per PTI. According to them, the information about the blaze at the old boy's hostel was received at 6.09 am.

Seven fire tenders were rushed to the site. The fire had affected the AC, furniture, and clothes in a room on the first floor of the building, a senior fire official said.

Last month, a massive fire broke out at a dumping ground in Noida, Sector 32 in Uttar Pradesh on May 18.

After a while, the fire was brought under control and Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP), Noida, Shakti Awasthi, said that the reason for the fire was dry leaves lying in the dumping ground.
