Delhi Shivers As Mercury Dips, Fog Covers City. Rain Predicted Today

Delhiites on Friday woke up to a chilly morning and the fog was seen covering the skyline. According to IMD, light rain is likely to occur in Delhi today.

Cold continues to hold Delhi under its grip as the mercury in the national capital remained below 10 degrees Celsius on Friday. The minimum temperature recorded was 6.2 degrees Celsius, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). This was slightly better than yesterday as the minimum temperature on Friday settled at 6.1 degrees Celsius. People were seen taking refuge in the night shelters near Safdarjung Hospital in the city. Delhi's skyline was covered with fog and the Air Quality Index (AQI) at 8 am stood at 396 (very poor category), as per the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). The AQI at the Anand Vihar station was recorded at 436. Regional Weather Forecasting Centre (RWFC) in Delhi has predicted light drizzle tonight which is further expected to lower the temperature in the national capital.

News agency ANI shared visuals of people being curled up inside blankets in the night shelters as the cold showed its wrath.

Visuals from the ITO area of the national capital showed the dense haze which was reducing the visibility slightly.
