Delhi on Thursday recorded a minimum temperature of 16.4 degrees Celsius. IMD has also predicted partly cloudy skies with gusty winds for today.

The Meteorological department on Thursday stated that the national capital recorded a minimum temperature of 16.4 degrees Celsius which is considered to be normal for the season. IMD also predicted partly cloudy skies with gusty winds for today. At 8:30 am the humidity was recorded at 77 percent by the weather office. The maximum temperature of Delhi is likely to settle around 33 degrees Celsius for the day.

At 9 am the Air Quality Index (AQI) of the national capital was recorded at 177 which falls in the moderate category, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).

An AQI between zero and 50 is considered good, 51 and 100 satisfactory, 101 and 200 moderate, 201 and 300 poor, 301 and 400 very poor, and 401 and 500 severe.

Meanwhile, Delhi saw its hottest day of the year yet on March 20 as the maximum temperature soared to 33.6 degrees Celsius.

It was two notches above normal as compared to the previous hottest day March 12, when the temperature was recorded at 31.4 degrees Celsius. Pitampura was the warmest area in the city with the maximum temperature recorded at 34.6 degrees on Wednesday.

The minimum temperature on March 20 was 13.7 degrees Celsius. This was three notches below normal as compared to 12.2 degrees Celsius on Tuesday. The relative humidity oscillated between 89 percent and 26 percent on Wednesday.

The weather department had earlier predicted: "Light to moderate rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm, lightning, and hail likely to continue over East India on March 20 and gradually decrease thereafter."

IMD also predicted that the thunderstorm activity over Northeast India and the Sub-Himalayan Sikkim and West Bengal would enhance during March 20-23.

The weather department also predicted that heat wave conditions very likely prevail in isolated pockets over Saurashtra and Kutch on March 20-21 and over southwest Rajasthan on March 23-24.

Hot and humid weather will very likely over Rayalaseema during next 5 days. Konkan, Goa, Kerala, Mahe, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal will likely witness hot and humid weather during next 2 days, IMD predicted.
