MCD Polls: Arvind Kejriwal Launches AAP's '10 Guarantees', Promises To Make Delhi Garbage-Free

MCD Polls 2022: Taking to Twitter, AAP stated: "Together we have to make Delhi a clean and beautiful city. Aam Aadmi Party's 10 guarantees to Delhiites for municipal elections."

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday announced the list of 10 guarantees which will form the basis of its manifesto for the December 4 municipal corporation elections.

Taking to Twitter, AAP stated: "Together we have to make Delhi a clean and beautiful city. Aam Aadmi Party's 10 guarantees to Delhiites for municipal elections."

Delhi CM Kejriwal said that the AAP if sworn in to power will clear three landfill sites and will make Delhi clean and beautiful. He further promised to end corruption in the civic body.

Here's list of AAP's "10 Guarantees"

  • Beautifying Delhi.
  • Removing all three landfills.
  • Solution to the problem of parking.
  • Freeing delhi of stray animals.
  • MCD schools and hospitals will be given better facilities.
  • Parks will be improved and Delhi will become a city of parks.
  • Temporary workers will be made permanent. Salaries will be given on time.
  • Licenses will be given online to traders now. "Inspector raj" will end.
  • Clean vending zones will be made for street vendors.
  • Construction of roads.

Earlier on Wednesday, Delhi's Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal along with Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, party’s MCD incharge Durgesh Pathak and other senior leaders attended the meeting conducted to hold discussions regarding the preperations for the upcoming MCD polls.

Similar "ten promises" had been proposed by the AAP before to the 2020 assembly elections.

The AAP should offer an update on the status of the pledges it made prior to the most recent assembly elections, BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor had said earlier.

Among the ten promises made by the AAP for 2020 were free 200 units of electricity for everyone, 24-hour piped drinking water for every home, world-class education for every kid in Delhi, the cheapest public transportation, a clean Yamuna, and a garbage-free Delhi.

MCD Polls 2022

According to the polling schedule released by the state electoral board last week, elections for the MCD will be place on December 4 and the results will be tallied on December 7.

MCD is an essential part of municipal administration and affects people on a daily basis, hence the contest involves high stakes for both the AAP and the BJP. Nearly 80% of Delhi is administered by the municipal authority, which offers almost as many services as the city government.

It will be the AAP's second attempt at a civic election. The AAP was unable to defeat the BJP at MCD despite sweeping to historic victory in the 2015 and 2020 assembly elections.

The elections will be crucial for the BJP, which has controlled the MCD for three straight terms, to keep control of the local political scene after suffering two consecutive losses at the assembly elections.
