Delhi Man Dies Of Electrocution While Using Treadmill In Gym, Owner Apprehended
24-year-old Saksham was brought to a hospital in an unconscious state and police inquiry revealed that he died due to electrocution while using a treadmill in the gym.
A 24-year-old man, identified as Saksham died due to electrocution while using a treadmill at a gym in Sector 15, Rohini on July 18, Delhi Police informed on Thursday. A Case was registered in this matter and during the investigation, the gym owner was apprehended, the Police said, as per news agency PTI. He was brought to the hospital in an unconscious state and inquiry revealed that the man died due to electrocution while using a treadmill in the gym. The deceased's father has demanded that the gym owner be awarded the strictest punishment.
The police were informed about the death of Saksham, a resident of Rohini Sector-19, by the Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rohini) Guriqbal Singh Sidhu said, as per PTI. He was brought to the hospital in an unconscious state from a gym in Rohini Sector-15, the officer said, further informing inquiry revealed that the man died due to electrocution while using a treadmill in the gym.
A case under IPC sections 287 (negligent conduct with respect to machinery) and 304A (causing death by negligence) has been registered in the matter, the DCP stated, as reported by PTI. Further investigation is underway, he added.

Mahesh Kumar, Saksham's father, told news agency ANI: "My son, Saksham was an engineer in a multinational company and he used to go to gym. I got a call from the gym the day before informing me that he fainted. When I reached the hospital I was told he was taken to another branch, then I was directed to a third hospital where Saksham was lying unconscious and the doctor said he has died. The other two men at the gym said that he might have got electrocuted."

"When the police did the investigation, the CCTV camera revealed that he was electrocuted as the machine was having high current. We want the owner to get arrested and he must be awarded the strictest punishment," he added.
Mahesh Kumar said that his son had been going to the gym for three-four months, and he would go there whenever he found time.
