Delhi: 50 Rescued After Massive Fire Breaks Out At LNJP Hospital Due To Short Circuit
Around 50 people were evacuated after a massive fire broke out at Delhi's LNJP Hospital.
Around 50 people were evacuated after a massive fire broke out in the emergency ward of the Lok Nayak Hospital (LNJP Hospital) in Central Delhi on Monday night. Chief of Delhi Fire Services Atul Garg told the media that the Fire Department received a call at around 10:18 PM.
Upon receiving the information, a total of 10 fire engines were immediately pressed into service. As per the report, the fire broke out due to a short circuit in the Out Patient Department (OPD) main casualty ward. It took almost an hour to extinguish the blaze completely, Garg told PTI.
Garg stated that about 50 people, including hospital staff and patients, were evacuated.
According to the report, police said that the fire originated in the emergency ward on the third floor. Upon arrival, they saw flames in a cable shaft spanning the third and fourth floors.
The police further stated that the fire tenders provided clear passage to the emergency ward. Along with the hospital staff the police evacuated the patients from the ground floor.

"Fire tenders were provided a clear passage up to the emergency ward. Police and hospital staff evacuated the patients from the ground floor. The fire was soon extinguished. No one was injured," a senior police officer said, as per PTI.
Speaking to ANI, Medical Director, LNJP Hospital, Suresh Kumar said, "There was an electric short circuit in the emergency block. All the patients are safe. There was no need to shift any of the patients from their wards."

Kumar further said, "Fire tenders reached the spot on time and the fire was doused off. All services had been restarted after the fire clearance."
