The Aditya Birla Education Trust has unveiled its latest initiative, the "Suicide Prevention Toolkit – HOPE," as part of the MPower campaign. Aimed at comprehensively addressing the multifaceted dimensions of suicide risk, this toolkit stands as an invaluable resource for individuals from all sections of the society.

'For A Safer Tomorrow'

The toolkit covers an array of crucial topics, including "Unveiling Suicide Risk: A Cross-Population Analysis", "Insights into Men's Vulnerabilities", "Navigating Women's Unique Challenges", "From Innocence to Struggle: Children's Perspective", "Navigating the Turbulent Seas of Youth", "Middle Age: Juggling Responsibilities and Wellbeing", and "Embracing Golden Years: Geriatric Wellbeing". By offering insights and strategies, it serves as a vital tool in the fight against suicide.

In a significant milestone for mental health care in India, MPower, an initiative of the Aditya Birla Education Trust, has inaugurated "Mpower - The Centre" in the heart of Delhi. Neerja Birla, founder and chairperson of Aditya Birla Education Trust and MPower, along with M Srinivas, director of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, virtually inaugurated the centre.

Revolutionizing Mental Health Care

Situated in Lajpat Nagar, New Delhi, "Mpower - The Centre" spans 1900 square feet and boasts state-of-the-art facilities. With six counselling rooms, a speech therapy room, and an occupational therapy room, the centre is staffed with experienced psychologists, psychiatrists, therapists, and counsellors. It aims to address the mental health needs of Delhi residents in a safe and secure environment.

The decision to establish "Mpower - The Centre" in Delhi is a strategic response to the pressing mental health challenges faced by the city's residents. The "Mpower Mental Health at Workplace Survey 2023" conducted in eight cities, including Delhi, revealed that 48% of Delhi residents are at risk of mental health illnesses. This underscores the urgency of addressing mental health concerns in the rapidly urbanizing city.

Neerja Birla emphasized the need for holistic mental health care, stating, "Our mission is clear: we want everyone to access mental health care without stigma. Mental health is as vital as physical health." She highlighted that "Mpower - The Centre" and the "Suicide Prevention Toolkit - HOPE" represent significant strides toward this vision.

Chief guest M Srinivas said that mental well-being must be prioritised. He said, "Seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness," emphasizing the role of the Suicide Prevention Toolkit as a beacon of hope. He urged the community to openly discuss and embrace mental health for a healthier and happier city.

Insights from the Mpower Mental Health at Workplace Survey

The survey revealed several insights into mental health in Delhi, including a 48% risk profile, workplace stressors, and concerns about sexual health. The report, attached for reference, provides a comprehensive overview of the mental health landscape in the city.
