The Ram Temple's inauguration preparations are underway and nearing completion. A few dignitaries will attend the ceremony, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The decorations at Rampath, Bhakti Path, and Sugriva Fort are nearing completion. The walls are adorned with terracotta and fine clay mural artwork.
In 2019, the Supreme Court issued a historic decision that resolved a centuries-old temple-mosque dispute. The court approved the construction of a Ram temple on the disputed site and ordered that an alternative five-acre plot be found for a mosque.
In the coming years, more than three lakh people are expected to visit Ayodhya daily and the planning for the temple town has been done after studying similar examples abroad, including Vatican City, Cambodia, Jerusalem, as also places in India, such as Tirupati and Amritsar, according to Dikshu Kukreja, the master planner behind the project, news agency PTI reported.
According to the report, some of the highlights of the plan prepared by Kukreja, the managing principal of C P Kukreja Architects, include efficient land use, minimal congestion, a focus on dharamshalas (inns) and homestays, infrastructure upgrades, and preserving the city's historical and cultural character.
According to the master plan, the redevelopment of Ayodhya will be completed over 10 years with an investment of more than Rs 85,000 crore to upgrade the holy city.
