Man Hacks Brother To Death With Axe Over Turning Off Music In MP's Satna

A man hacked his brother to death with an axe after the latter turned off the music and stopped him from dancing at a family function in Madhya Pradesh's Satna district.

A man in Madhya Pradesh's Satna district allegedly murdered his brother with an axe after he "turned off the music" at a family function, news agency PTI reported citing police on Sunday.

Rajkumar Kol (30), the accused, was arrested for the killing that took place at Mauhar village under Kothi police station limits on Friday night, as per the PTI report.

Rakesh (35), Rajkumar’s brother, had organised a function at his residence where music was playing on a sound system, said Rupendra Rajput, in-charge of Kothi police station.

The conflict arose when the victim "turned off the music", and the accused, wanting to continue dancing, initiated an argument. In a fit of anger, Rajkumar allegedly attacked Rakesh with an axe, resulting in his immediate death, the official stated, as reported by PTI.

After the incident, the accused fled but was later apprehended near a culvert where he was hiding.

Rajkumar was arrested, and the weapon used in the crime was confiscated.

Two Men Booked For Alleged Witchcraft At Crematorium In MP's Guna District

Two men in Madhya Pradesh's Guna district are facing charges of performing witchcraft near a burning pyre at a crematorium, news agency PTI reported citing information from an official on Saturday.

The police took action against the two individuals after they were caught near the pyre by the relatives of a man, Ashwini Kewat (29), who had died of a heart attack. The family had taken the body to a crematorium in Gopalpura for the last rites.

Upon returning to the crematorium for a ritual, Kewat's brother Nikhil and friend Akash Raghuvanshi discovered three individuals allegedly performing sorcery near the burning pyre, as per the police complaint, the PTI report said. 

Nikhil and Akash, with the help of locals, managed to apprehend two of the three individuals, Avinash Nath and Dilip Nath, while the third person, Rahul Bairagi, escaped.

The police have registered a case under IPC sections 297 (trespassing on burial places, etc.) and 34 (common intention). The investigation is ongoing, according to the report.
