Caught On Camera: Medical Shop Owner Robbed At Gunpoint In Punjab's Faridkot

A video shows unidentified miscreants looting a medical shop owner at gunpoint in Punjab's Faridkot on Sunday

New Delhi: In a shocking incident in Punjab's Faridkot, a medical shop owner was allegedly robbed by unidentified miscreants at gunpoint on Sunday.  The miscreants managed to take around Rs 40,000 from the shopkeeper before leaving the premises, reported news agency ANI.

The entire incident of the robbery was captured on a CCTV camera. In the video, the shop owner and a staff member can be seen sitting at the front desk as the group of men entered the shop posing as customers.

Soon, one of the gang members caught hold of the staff member. The shop owner quickly jumped out of his seat in shock trying to talk to miscreants. The video then shows another man covered in a mask pulling out a gun and pointing it out at the shop owner while his aides take out money from the cash box.

The investigation into the incident is underway, the news agency added.

Last year in December, a former Chairman of Ludhiana's Market Committee was robbed of Rs 80,000, according to the Police, reported news agency ANI. The incident happened on December 25 when two masked robbers armed with lethal weapons entered the office of Darshan Lal Baweja.  

"Around 2 pm, two masked robbers carrying weapons robbed the office of Ludhiana's former Chairman of the market committee Darshan Lal Baweja and stole approx Rs 80,000 kept in the office. We have filed a case & investigation is underway," Assistant Commissioner of Police Gurdev Singh had said.

Prior to the incident, the mobile phone of a Norwegian cyclist who had come to participate in the solo world cycling tour was also stolen by snatchers. After receiving a complaint, the police swung into action and recovered the phone. Two persons were also arrested for their involvement in the crime. Ludhiana Police Commissioner MS Sidhu called Aspen (the Norwegian national) to his office and returned the phone.

Meanwhile, the Punjab Police on Sunday arrested an active member of the Goldy Brar gang from Sundar Nagar in Himachal Pradesh. Inderpreet Singh alias Parry (32) was facing several murder and attempt to murder cases in Punjab and Haryana, informed Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav, according to news agency PTI.
