Watch: Man Nearly Swept Away In Flooded Ajmer Dargah Lane, Rescue Caught On Camera

A heart-stopping moment unfolded near the Ajmer Dargah as a man was nearly swept away by gushing rainwater.

A harrowing video emerging from the Khwaja Garib Nawaz Dargah in Ajmer has shaken social media, capturing the alarming aftermath of heavy rainfall late Friday night. In the footage, rainwater can be seen surging like a river through narrow lanes near the Dargah, sweeping roadside carts and flooding passageways.

Panic gripped the area near Nizam Gate on July 18 when a man slipped dangerously close to the surging waters. Within moments, a couple of locals sprang into action, pulling him out of harm’s way just before he was swept away by the raging current.

The entire rescue was caught on camera. The video has since gone viral on social media, drawing praise for the rescuers’ courage.

This was just one of several rain-related incidents reported across Rajasthan as relentless monsoon showers battered the state.

In response to the worsening weather, the Ajmer Municipal Corporation issued an urgent advisory. “Today's red alert has been announced by the weather department. All the common people are asked to remain in their homes. Where there is excessive water, the general public is aware of all the affected areas; therefore, they should avoid going out there and pay special attention to those places,” said Health Officer Prithviraj Singh.

Red Alert in Rajasthan

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for multiple districts, including Ajmer, Bhilwara, Kota, Bundi, Tonk and Pali. Orange alerts were declared in areas like Rajsamand, while Jaipur, Sikar and Jodhpur fall under yellow alert.

Emergency teams, including engineers, sanitation workers and health officials, have been stationed in flood-prone neighbourhoods under the Municipal Commissioner’s directive. In Pushkar, heavy rains led to flooded homes and shops, while vehicles were seen drifting in water-filled streets. Sikar also recorded significant water accumulation following prolonged showers. The government-run Jawaharlal Nehru Hospital was partially flooded, impacting normal operations.
