Vadodara Car Crash Accused Holds Ears In Apology As Police Recreate Crime Scene: VIDEO

Vadodara car crash accused Rakshit Ravish Chaurasia was brought to the crime spot for scene recreation.

Gujarat's Vadodara police on Saturday brought Rakshit Ravish Chaurasia, the accused in the fatal car crash, to the crime spot for scene recreation. The 23-year-old law student allegedly drove an overspeeding vehicle that rammed into multiple vehicles in the early hours of Friday, killing one woman and injuring seven others.

In a video shared by news agency ANI, Rakshit appears to be injured in his legs and can be seen limping. He also holds his ears as a gesture to apologise while he is taken back to the police van.

According to videos that surfaced on social media, Chaurasia appeared intoxicated at the time of the accident. He was seen screaming, “another round, another round” after stepping out of the car following the crash.

Initially, Chaurasia denied being under the influence but later admitted to consuming bhaang (cannabis), as reported by NDTV.

Vadodara Car Crash: Congress Questions 'Easy' Liquor Access In Dry State Of Gujarat

The incident has sparked outrage, with questions being raised about how the accused was allegedly in an inebriated state in Gujarat, a dry state. Congress leader Supriya Shrinate strongly condemned the accident, questioning the mindset of privileged youths like Chaurasia. “What are these spoilt rich kids proud of?” she asked in a post on X, terming him an “animal” for taking someone’s life and then asking for “one more round.”

She also questioned the availability of liquor in Gujarat, asking, “Gujarat is a dry state, How is liquor available so easily there? If you did not drink alcohol, then which other dry intoxicant did you consume? The drug trade is running rampant in Gujarat?”

Furthermore, she criticised Chaurasia’s chanting of ‘Om Namah Shivay’ after the accident, remarking, “Why does this monster have the belief that he will be saved by taking God's name? Why do boys like Rakshith think that being a Hindu is their shield after taking someone’s life?”

In another post, Shrinate slammed his interaction with the media while in police custody. “Today he is giving interviews to TV channels and pretending to be innocent. First of all, how can a person in police custody talk to the media? Has this rich spoilt brat fought any freedom struggle that he is being interviewed?” she asked.
