UP: Class 9 Student Dies By Suicide After Being Denied To Sit In Exam Over Rs 800 Unpaid Fees

Additional Superintendent of Police (East) Durgesh Kumar Singh stated that the girl was denied permission to sit for the exam and was sent back home, as per the complaint.

A class 9 student died by suicide after hanging in her room in the Pratapgarh district of Uttar Pradesh, after she was reportedly humiliated over unpaid fees by her college administration and denied permission to appear for her annual exam, police stated on Saturday.

As per the complaint filed by her mother, police added that Poonam Devi, Riya Prajapati (17), a student at Kamala Sharan Yadav Inter College, was denied the admit card due to unpaid fees of Rs 800.

She claimed in the complaint that college manager Santosh Kumar Yadav, principal Rajkumar Yadav, staff member Deepak Saroj, peon Dhaniram, and a teacher, who is yet to be identified, have humiliated her daughter when she went to appear for the exam on Saturday, a police officer stated, Indian Express reported.

According to Additional Superintendent of Police (East) Durgesh Kumar Singh, the girl was denied permission to sit for the exam and was sent back home, as per the complaint.  

Distressed by the humiliation, Riya went home and ended her life by hanging herself in a room, police reported. The complainant further alleged that the college staff had threatened to jeopardize her daughter's future, which ultimately drove her to suicide.  

A case has been registered, and an investigation is in progress. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination, police confirmed.

Woman Dies By Suicide In Her PG Room In Karnataka 

A 24-year-old woman died by suicide in her PG accommodation in Karnataka's Belagavi on Tuesday (March 27). The woman, identified as Aishwarya Galagali, was a resident of Vijayapura and was undergoing training at a private company in Belagavi after completing her MBA. She had been residing in a PG unit in Nehru Nagar for the past three months.

The PG authorities on Tuesday evening had informed the police after Galagali did not open her door for a long time despite several efforts. When they broke the door open, Galagali's body was found hanging from the ceiling fan.
