UP Man Performs Surgery On Himself After Watching YouTube Tutorial, Hospitalised

The man locked himself in a room on Wednesday and made a seven-inch incision on the lower right side of abdomen. He was rushed to the hospital by his nephew after the bleeding did not stop.

A 32-year-old man from Vrindavan in Uttar Pradesh performed a surgery on himself after watching YouTube tutorials. The man was tired of constant stomach pain and wanted to cure himself of appenicitis, but instead landed in a hospital after cutting his belly open. He remains in a critical condition.

Rajababu Kumar locked himself in a room on Wednesday and made a seven-inch incision on the lower right side of abdomen, thinking he had gathered enough information from the YouTube and internet to self-operate.

However, he developed complications as the blade went deeper than intended, intesifying the pain. He then tried to stitch the wound himself, but had to be rushed to a hospital by his nephew after the bleeding did not stop, Times Of India reported.

Dr Shashi Ranjan, a senior surgeon at the Vrindavan District Hospital, told news agency PTI that the man used a surgical blade, needle, and stitch cord, which he bought from market, to make an incision in his abdomen. He later stitched it with 11 sutures.

After being provided with proper sutures, Kumar was moved to for further treatment at SN Medical College in Agra.

SHO of Jait police station, Ashwini Kumar, stated that the hospital authority informed the police about the case.

A native of Sunrakh village, Kumar had been suffering from appendicitis for years and had undergone surgery at 14. He runs a banquet hall in his village and had lately been experiencing pain in the same area where he underwent an appendix operation earlier, Rajababu's nephew Rahul Kumar said, as reported by TOI.

"He brought various surgical items on his own. Then he cut open his stomach himself and stitched it back up. Afterwards, he came outside and said he was in pain. He must have given himself an injection, probably an anaesthetic. When the pain became unbearable, he came out and told us," a family member said.
