UP: Over 13 Lakh Govt Staff At Risk Of Losing Salaries If They Don't Comply With This Order. Read Details

In Uttar Pradesh, over 13 lakh state government employees face salary suspensions and promotion risks for failing to declare assets by August 31 on the Manav Sampada portal.

Lucknow News: In Uttar Pradesh, around 13 lakh state government employees may lose their monthly earnings and put their promotions and other benefits at risk if they do not comply with the Chief Minister Yogi Advityanath-led government's latest directive by the end of this month. The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in UP has reportedly asked the government staffers to declare their movable and immovable assets on a government portal called Manav Sampada by August 31.

If the state government employees fail to comply with the order on time, they will not be paid salaries for this month and the non-compliance will also affect promotions, a report by NDTV said quoting the latest order.

The order was first issued in August last year, with the deadline on December 31, 2024. The deadline was then pushed to June 30 and later to July 31 in view of the low compliance rate. The deadline has now been extended to August 31.

UP's Principal Secretary of the personnel department, M Devraj, has reportedly sent the order issued by the Chief Secretary to all the Additional Chief Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, Secretaries as well as Department Heads and Office Heads, which states that the employees who fail to furnish these details will also not be considered for promotions.

Currently, there are 17 lakh 88 thousand 429 government employees in Uttar Pradesh, and as per the report, 26 per cent of them have already updated their property details on the Manav Sampada portal. However, over 13 lakh staffers are yet to comply with the order.

Though the government has extended the deadline in the past, the extension of the date this time came with an ultimatum from Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh, who categorically said that people who fail to list their property details by August 31, will get the August salary, but their salaries for months after will be stopped.

As per the state government, the move is required to enhance the "transparency and accountability" of the system. "This measure aims to enhance transparency and accountability within the government. We have a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Prime Minister Narendra Modi," NDTV quoted UP Minister Danish Azad Ansari as saying.

However, the delays in the compliance have come under Samajwadi party-led Opposition's scrutiny, which criticised the government for multiple deadline extensions saying it shows that the state government failed to implement its order.
