‘Vultures Only Found Corpses’: UP CM Attacks Oppn Over Maha Kumbh, Rejects Claim Of Caste-Based Restriction

UP CM Yogi Adityanath defended his government's handling of the Maha Kumbh, asserting that it was a success and rejected opposition allegation of caste-based restriction.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, while addressing the state assembly on Monday during the Budget Session, launched a sharp attack on the opposition over allegations regarding Maha Kumbh and disrupting the Governor's address.

Speaking on the Maha Kumbh, Yogi Adityanath targeted the Opposition citing a social media post, "Everyone found what they sought at Maha Kumbh. Vultures only found corpses, pigs found filth, sensitive individuals found beautiful relationships, devotees found virtue, gentlemen found kindness, the wealthy found business, the poor found employment, and devotees found their God. Everyone saw the event according to their own nature. The beauty of Sanatan Dharma where all people irrespective of caste bathed — how will the Samajwadis and Leftists ever understand it?"

"Their constant questioning puts their intentions in suspicion. These comments show what India is saying," he added.

He highlighted that the Maha Kumbh portrayed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat'.

‘Maha Kumbh A Global Event’: UP CM Yogi Adityanath

Countering the opposition’s claims about caste-based restrictions at Maha Kumbh, Yogi Adityanath said, "You (opposition) said people from a particular caste was stopped from entering Maha Kumbh. No caste was stopped. We said those who go with goodwill and respect can participate, but if someone goes with malicious intent and tries to create disorder, they will face consequences."

Rejecting allegations that religious sentiments were tampered with, he added, "Unlike the Samajwadi Party, we did not play with faith. During your tenure, the Chief Minister did not even have time to monitor the arrangements. That is why a non-Sanatani was made in charge of Kumbh. But I personally oversaw everything and ensured smooth arrangements."

Highlighting the difference between past and present Maha Kumbh events, CM Yogi remarked, "In the 2013 Kumbh, people saw mismanagement, corruption, and pollution. The water of the Triveni Sangam—Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati—was not even fit for a holy dip. The Prime Minister of Mauritius is an example of this, as he refused to take a dip back then."

Praising the arrangements for the ongoing Maha Kumbh, Yogi Adityanath stated, "This time, no one from India or abroad has stayed away. The President, Prime Minister, Vice President, the King of Bhutan, and heads of various missions have all visited."

Calling it a ‘vaishvik ayojan’ (global event), he said, "There is no other event in the world where such a large number of people gather on one platform to contribute to the success of a single event."

Over 65 Crore Devotees Expected By 26 February: UP CM Yogi Adityanath

Referring to the record footfall at Maha Kumbh, Yogi Adityanath noted, "This time, you attended Maha Kumbh, took a holy dip, and even praised the arrangements. You admitted that without world-class management, 63 crore devotees wouldn’t have attended. By 26 February, this number will surpass 65 crore."

Meanwhile, CM Adityanath also criticised the Samajwadi Party over its leaders' sloganeering during Governor Anandiben Patel's address to the joint sitting of the legislative assembly and council last week. On the first day of the session on February 18, the Uttar Pradesh governor had to finish her 40-page address in a little over eight minutes as SP leaders came in front of the speaker's seat with placards in their hands and raised 'governor go back' slogan, news agency PTI reported.

'You Roam Around With Copy Of Constitution, But...': CM Yogi Adityanath To Samajwadi Party

Criticising the opposition's conduct during the Governor's address, the Chief Minister remarked, "You roam around with a copy of the Constitution, but how much do you actually follow its principles? The chaos you created during the Governor's address reflects that. Was the commotion you created that day appropriate? You give long speeches on morality and the Constitution, but the posts made by your party's media cell reveal how much you actually respect these values. The language used in those posts is not acceptable in a civilised society."

"The noise, the kind of comments that were being made, the way the governor was being treated, was that constitutional?" Adityanath asked.
